About PAC
PAC stands for Parent Advisory Council. Every parent or guardian with a child at École Porter Street Elementary is automatically a voting member of the Porter Street Elementary School PAC.
All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend meetings and discover our PAC and learn about its importance to the school community.
Each year during our Annual General Meeting (AGM), parents have the opportunity to vote in a new PAC Executive. The executive is made up of four required member roles: Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, and DPAC Representative.
Sometimes we may have more than one person share a role to split the work load or to act as a resource and help transition a new executive member into a role often when the person who held the role previously will be stepping down or leaving the school as their children move on to middle school.
These four positions only exist to manage meetings and keep them running smoothly, create forward momentum on our projects, and ensure that we, as a group, are upholding our bylaws. We have additional existing roles for ongoing projects and initiatives like the Fundraising Coordinator, the KM Club Coordinator, the Fruit & Veggie Coordinator etc., and additional roles will emerge as parents bring new ideas, skills, and passions to the PAC.
Our Bylaws
The Bylaws are a set of rules that define our PAC and outline how the PAC must be run. The document includes things like what commitments are required for each of our executive roles, when we perform those duties, and how frequently we hold meetings.
Most recently, the bylaws were updated by a committee of PAC members and was adopted during a PAC AGM in March 2023.
Our bylaws are scheduled for review and updating during the 2028-29 school year when another committee will be formed to review and propose changes to reflect the ways the PAC has changed.

PAC Programs
Every PAC member – that is any parent or caregiver of a Porter student, is encouraged to bring their unique skills and share their interests with the student body by forming clubs and starting or carrying on a passion project that benefits all our students in some way.
